Pediatrician/Our Cartoon Baby

Today Jackson had his two month pediatrician's visit. He now weighs 14 pounds, 12 ounces which is in the 95th percentile, and he is 25 inches long which is in the 97th percentile. He is one big baby! He also got his first set of vaccinations where I learned just how loud the little guy can scream. After some baby Tylenol and cuddling he is doing fine now.

One of my friends pointed out how similar Jackson and Baby Jack Jack from the movie "The Incredibles" look, what do you think?

A Clean Bill of Health/Our Little Sleepyhead

Today we had Jackson's ultrasound and they determined that the brace has been working and that we can begin weaning him out of it! For the next two weeks he can be out for a few hours in the morning and a few hours at night, and then for the following four weeks he only has to sleep in it! It was such a relief to hear that it worked, and we can't wait until he is fully out and can wear all of his adorable clothes!

Jackson is absolutely loving his crib, and sleeps every night from about 9PM to at least 5:30AM, sometimes even 7AM! We are really blessed to have such a good little sleeper. Most nights Matt heads to bed with Jackson so that he can get up at 1:30AM for UPS. Then every morning at 6:50 Matt gets home and we do a quick hand off as I head to work. Jackson also gets in a solid two hour nap every morning where Matt can catch up on a little sleep.

The weather is starting to get a little chilly out here, so we've got a "bundle me" for Jackson's car seat, doesn't he look cute in it? Jackson's new favorite toy is his "Johnny jumperoo", here is a picture of him in it, now he just has to figure out how to jump rather than just spin in circles!

Break Down/Sick Baby/New Crib

This week had it's highs and lows after finally making it home from our big road trip. Immediately after getting home our Explorer started making a weird noise, only to find out that a $500 repair was necessary. So, for a few days while both of our vehicles were in the shop we shared a rental, now we are just waiting on the Jetta repair. It's probably going to be a while though because they called today to tell me that there is an additional $2,000 of damage that wasn't in the orignal estimate!

Another low of this week is that Jackson had his first cold, he was all stuffed up and had a runny nose, but he was a trooper and is almost better now. He even put up with letting us stick the aspirator up his nose, I think that he realized that relief followed!

Although we had some lows, we also had the high of getting his crib and getting it all set up. His first night in his crib he slept from 9PM to 6:30 AM! He loves his mobile and is usually content to lay there and stare at it. I am also back at work now, and although it is hard to leave him, Matt has stopped by twice for lunch so that I can see them both. It is the perfect break in a busy day!

Coyote Disaster

We are back safe and sound in Denver, but we can't say the same for our Jetta. Last night at 3AM when we were 50 miles from home a Coyote darted out in front of the car and did some major damage. We ended up spending an hour waiting for the police, another hour waiting for a tow truck, a few more hours waiting for the dealership to open, and got home around 10AM... yes, our 14 hour road trip turned into a 23.5 hour trip. It sounds like we are going to need new fan blades, a new windshield wiper fluid tank, wiper hook ups, engine carriage, and bumper estimated somewhere over $5000! Luckily we are insured and we were all fine.

Now we are just settling back into life here, Matt starts back at both jobs tomorrow, and I start back on Thursday. Our trip was great but I guess that it's back to reality!

Illinois

Today is the last day of our big trip to Illinois. We are hitting the road around 11:00 and hope to be home around 4AM! We had an excellent time here, and Jackson got to meet almost all of his relatives. Matt's mom and Matt's dad both threw showers for him, where we got tons of adorable gifts. Jackson also went to his first pumpkin patch where we couldn't resist some adorable pictures. You can see that Jackson wasn't too happy about the outcome of the Bears game, he is already a little die hard fan!

He sure is growing fast, we weighed him and he already weighs over 13 pounds! He is also in all of his 3 month clothes now, and eating 6 ounces every feeding! He is also becoming a better sleeper, now we can put him down at 11:00 PM and he doesn't wake up until 5AM! He is also smiling a lot more, with lots of ear to ear grins.

We are definitely going to miss all of the help and company of family and friends, but we are looking forward to getting back to our cozy Denver apartment.

Photos!

Yesterday Jackson got his first set of professional photos taken by my friend Jackie. Feel free to take a look at this link to see them all. The password is "McGurn". They turned out wonderful! Now the hard part will be deciding which pictures to buy. http://www.photoreflect.com/pr3/ThumbAccess.aspx?e=4196673

Minnesota

Since getting to Minnesota Matt, Jackson and I have been very busy. We started the week off getting together with my friends Rachel and Meghann who were so excited to get to be with Jackson. We caught some great pictures of his hilarious expressions. We also made Matt and Jackson's first trip to the Apple Orchard. I couldn't believe that Matt had never been, so we all enjoyed a hayride, apple picking, and apple crisp! Then this morning we made the trip North to our lake place and spent the day and my Aunt and Uncles house where Jackson got to meet them, along with his Great Grandparents Bernie and Verna. Jackson also got to meet my Aunt's dog who is also named Jackson! Today Matt spent the day with my dad, brother and uncle learning how to site guns and shoot clay pigeons. He was a great shot!

We Made it to Minnesota!

Attention all blog readers, for those of you following our lives, we made the 14 hour trip from Denver to Minnesota and it was a success. We left Denver at 5:30 PM Mountain time on Wednesday, and arrived at 10AM Central time. We had to make four 30 minute stops to feed Jackson, but the longest that he cried for was ten minutes, otherwise he was content to sleep and look out the windows for the rest of the car ride! As for Matt and I we were exhausted by the time that we got here, but luckily grandma and grandpa were happy to watch Jackson while we got some much needed sleep.

Jackson got to meet Uncle Jake and Aunt Britty today and they both fell immediately in love with him. This trip will be filled with Jackson meeting lots of friends and relatives, we can't wait to see them all!
