Mr. and Mrs. Jacob and Brittany Olson

We arrived home last night from a short but great trip to Jamaica for my brother's wedding. We left on Thanksgiving, had their wedding on Friday, hung out by the pool and beach all day on Saturday, and came home Sunday. Although it was short it was totally worth it to see Jake and Brittany get married. They had a perfect ceremony on the beach, followed by the sunset. In January they will have a reception in Minnesota. Until my sister Brittaney gets married in June there are two Brittany Olson's in Minnesota for now!

If you want to see all of the pictures (or just a few more), I posted almost 500 on our shutterfly share site at www.mcgurnfam.shutterfly.com.

Wood Floors!

After revealing that the wood floors on our new house had a major break in them and required repair work, we decided to hire professionals for the job. They worked for the last three days, and the results are outstanding. We are in love with the way that they look, and are so excited to move into our new house! Now it's time for some rug shopping! You can also see our paint work, Matt has painted all of the trim, we painted the master bedroom green, and the baby's room is half blue, half white.

We've been busy!

We closed on our new house on Monday night, and I feel like I haven't had a moment to breathe since then! After closing on Monday we raced over there and pulled up the carpet to see what our wood floors looked like. Turns out that they are in good condition, with one fault, there used to be a wall that was moved back, so there is a huge divide in the floors. So, we are going to get a contractor to fix them starting on Monday. On Tuesday we tore up all of the carpet, took out all of the carpet tack strips and stapeles, took of the ugly screen doors, took down all of the blinds, and started painting the trim on a few windows. On Wednesday we completed the trim painting. On Thursday we did some more demo, met with contractors, and picked out interior paint colors. Tonight we painted the first coat on the master bedroom, and got the baby's room taped off. Tomorrow our goal is to complete the master bedroom painting, the baby's room, and start painting the trim! On Monday the floor guys start, and by Thanksgiving we hope to be done!

The Olson family is growing!

On Tuesday night my sister Brittaney's boyfriend Brian proposed! Of course she said yes, and so we are excited to expand our family by 1 more! Brian is a great guy who will fit into our family perfectly. I know that Matt is excited to be adding another sports enthusiast to the family. Their wedding is going to be in June, and maybe, just maybe we can convice them to move to Denver!

With Jake's wedding in exactly 2 weeks, the new baby in March, and Britt's wedding in June our small family is growing by 3 members very quickly!

I Love Craigslist!

I have been scouring Craigslist for a few items for our new house, and tonight I scored a $100 bargain! Jack is going to have bunkbeds and a matching dresser for his cowboy room! Now the only dilemna is that we will need another twin comforter... looks like I am going to be putting my sewing skills back to use! (And for you worried grandmas.. don't worry we won't be putting the ladder up for a long time, and Jackson will be on the bottom bunk with a rail).

The Flu... and the Countdown.

The past week and a half has been a blur, as the flu hit our family and it hit us hard. Starting two weeks ago on Tuesday I got sick, then a few days later Matt got it, and a couple days after that Jackson got it. We accomplished nothing, slept a lot, and coughed a ton. We are all on the mend now, and trying to make up for our week of lost time!

As for the new house... 9 days until closing!!! We got an e-mail yesterday saying that all of our financing is set and ready for closing! We are still not sure when we will be moving, once we close we are going to tear up the carpeting, and depending how the wood floors look underneath that will determine when we can move in!

Our days are filled with comparing paint colors, perusing the Home Depot and Lowe's websites, and debating furniture choices.

Currently here are our ideas:

Jackson's Room= Vintage Cowboy. My mom and I sewed a duvet for his twin bed, and I have been accumulating vintage cowboy accessories. Here is the duvet that we made:

Baby Boy's Room: Bright baby blue and lime green, I am currently working on making him a quilt, and depending on how that turns out I may or may not sew curtains to match! I will post pics once I make some more progress.

Basement: Once we sheetrock it we are considering painting it orange! I found this picture that inspired me, what do you think?

Now our biggest decision is whether or not to put in a gas fireplace when we refinish the basement. Although it would be expensive I think that it would really be nice. We will have to see how the budget pans out.

Well those are the ideas going through our heads. We probably should be more focused on packing our current house, but without a moving date set I am having more fun thinking about our new house.

Da Bears

For Halloween Matt's mom sent Jack an orange Urlacher jersey, he also has an old blue Grossman jersey that was Ana's. Now for all Bear's games Matt has Jackson supporting his hometown team... Da Bears!

"Bee and Me"

When my mom was here she brought Jack the book "Bee and Me" and it has become Jackson's absolute favorite book. If we were willing he would let us read it to him 100 times a day! There is a dog in the book and now every time he sees the dog he barks, and is starting to make a buzzing noise when he sees the bee.
